F.A.M.E Team Australia visit ends on a high!
Days 7, 8 & 9
With a much earlier call time of 8am, the F.A.M.E Team sleepily made their way back to the prep area at Hair Expo to get to work on recreating their looks from the previous two days, ready for their 10.50am show which was a huge success.
Squeezing in a quick afternoon nap, the team got ready for the evening’s Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Gala Awards show. Suited and booted, they glammed up and headed to the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. They were blown away by the level of hair across the board, proving why UK hairdressers are now sourcing inspiration from Australia now, just as much as they are for the UK.
With all of their shows in Australia behind them, the F.A.M.E. Team began to focus on their shoot with BaByliss PRO UK where they were heading up the hair work. Photographing the campaign was the amazing David Mannah, previous Photographer of the Year at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards in 2011 and 2012. They were shooting at the Chocolate Factory Studio in Chippendale, a cool and quirky location to get the creativity flowing. With stylist Emma Cotteril and make-up artists Sarah Laidlaw and Talia Kepitis doing what they do best, they all busily worked away on the youthful, cool and edgy brief, keeping things editorial but with a commercial edge.
The team’s final day of the trip called for a little downtime! With the majority of the team lying in and enjoying doing nothing for the first time in a while, Gavin headed out to enjoy a cruise down Sydney harbour to see the sights and take in the beautiful city by boat. However, there was still a little work to be done, as at 1.30pm the team had an interview at their hotel with Hair Expo and the lovely PR Belinda Craige. Chatting about their Australian experience, the team talked through their ‘Youthquake’ collection, how they source inspiration and working together as a team.
Finally, the round off the perfect trip, the team attended a look and learn evening with the legendary Eugene Souleiman at Wella Studios in Sydney. Whilst showcasing how he uses fabric within his hair looks, Eugene talked the audience through his experiences with Trevor Sorbie, Vivienne Westwood and so many other huge fashion, beauty and hair names. Not only did the team get to meet and learn so much from Eugene, they also got to meet Mr Y.S Park, owner and founder of YSPark, easily one of their biggest sources of hairdressing equipment.
The perfect way to end their amazing trip!
