SIMON SHAW

Vice Chairman

My Role in The Fellowship
As Vice Chairman I assist the Chairman in moving The Fellowship forward and making sure we donít stand still.

My Industry background
Starting my career in 1963 I began as a trainee and worked through various levels which included salon and general management. In 1980 I was involved in the first management buy outs for the European Company which included salons and schools.

What does being part of The Fellowship mean to me?
Having spent a lifetime in the industry I couldnít just walk away and having sold the business I wanted to still be very much a part of the development. I currently am an active part of both The Fellowship and our industry charity HABB, among many other responsibilities.

Something people might not know about me
In 1963 I struggled to get a job anywhere as an apprentice. I managed to secure a place on the 6 month Sassoon training course and after self funding myself I was informed I needed another 3 months to become a stylist. This then prompted Sassoonís to launch the 9 month beginner course to their education programme.
