F.A.M.E. TEAM

THE F.A.M.E. TEAM

The Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence is an annual initiative that was created to nurture, encourage and promote an elite group of young, up-and-coming hairdressers in all aspects of the industry. Offering unique exposure and a possible platform to future stardom and is the UK Hairdressings original and best independent launch vehicle for young creative stylists.

Past members of this elite team include The Fellowships past President Errol Douglas MBE, as well as British Hairdresser of The Year Umberto Giannini and Jamie Stevens.

At our Luncheon and Awards in December 2016 the new F.A.M.E. Team for 2017 was announced after the talented four were selected by an esteemed judging panel made up of industry experts. We caught up with Gavin, James, Jordanna and Ria to find out a little more about them:

GAVIN MCINTYRE

What is your job title in the salon?
Director/Salon Owner at G&E McIntyres.

What is your favourite part of your job?
I love the creative aspect of what I do. It allows me to be expressive and create an extension of myself through hair. Being able to put a smile on people’s faces and inspiring the young hairdressers of tomorrow is something I feel very lucky to be a part of!

What does being part of The F.A.M.E. Team mean to you?
The F.A.M.E Team is an achievement I have been chasing for a few years. It means I've hit an absolute pinnacle of my career. I remember seeing The F.A.M.E. Team 2011 and 2012 and thinking WOW that's what I want to aim for! Achieving it after all the time and preparation it's taken means an awful lot to me.

How did you feel when your name was announced at The Luncheon & Awards?
I was the final person to be called and I had lost a little bit of hope in being chosen, but when Bruno said my name I couldn’t believe it. The relief of the hard work paying off, as well as a dream coming true, certainly got the better of me and my emotions. The opportunity to work alongside everyone I am going to is so exciting.

How are you feeling about next year?
I definitely know to expect hard work but I cannot wait to grow both individually and as a team. The thought of continuing the reputation of this prestigious team is something I will definitely make the most of. I anticipate a rollercoaster of excitement, thrills and inspiration and I hope that young hairdressers will be inspired from watching us – just like I was many years ago!
