After six months of training and education, the ClubStar Art Team made their stage debut in front of a sell-out audience at the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Members’ Night, which took place at the Wella Studio in London.
The team took to the stage to present seven models, all inspired by Japanese streetstyle with a punk twist. Looks ranged from tufted pigtails and a woven high ponytail, to a neon crop and choppy black wig.
Evident throughout the models were the influence of workshops which the team have undertaken so far this year. They’ve studied editorial styling with Jonathan Andrew during their own streetstyle shoot, cut and colour with the Marc Antoni team and the art of extensions with Michelle Griffin. The skills picked up on these classes, and throughout their time as a collective working together, were apparent as they presented diverse, technically precise looks that packed a punch.
The team also benefited from tips on presenting with their mentor, Simon Tuckwell; presenting with confidence and clarity and capturing the imagination of the crowd.
Commenting on the night, Simon says: “Now that’s how you do a stage debut! I’m incredibly proud of my Fellowship ClubStar Art Team for their first ever stage show. I’d like to thank the Fellowship for allowing them to present their vision on stage, and all of the mentors who have helped them so far. “
Team member Roman Sys from Sassoon adds: “It’s a great privilege to be part of such a talented team. Thank you to Fellowship for making our team a reality and to Simon for all of his time and support. It’s great to be working as part of such an amazing team.”
The team’s next appearance on stage will be at their own event, ClubStar Presents, on Monday 30 July. They’ll be showcasing more of their skills, as well as sharing their inspirations and stories so far.
