Fellowship Members Stay Connected

Social media has long been an integral part of any successful salon’s day-to-day life, but during lockdown it has become a lifeline; providing hairdressers with an effective and engaging way to stay connected to their clients and community. As the industry continues to navigate the new normal and prepares for ongoing uncertainty, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing recently hosted a free digital workshop to provide its members with simple steps to take for success both on and offline, using social media as a platform from which to grow.

The workshop was hosted by a panel of online experts: hairdressers Casey Coleman, Brooke Evans and Georgia Bell, and LWPR’s head of digital, Rachael Gibson. Together they brought wide-ranging expertise, from brand and media expectations on social to the realities of managing a salon while growing your business online. Attendees left the session armed with practical, takeaway ideas to help them create dynamic digital content and achieve their individual professional goals.

The session covered six key areas:

● Creating a strong personal aesthetic and brand identity
● Engagement, growing your audience and attracting business
● How to plan and use content to boost bookings and retail
● Tools and apps to make managing social media quicker and more effective
● Using video to create engaging content
● Which platforms to use

Fellowship President Ken Picton says: “Social media has never been more important for salons wanting to stay connected to their clients and reach and attract new audiences, but with the ever-changing, fast-paced nature of digital, it can be hard to stay on top of social – let alone stand out. We are committed to empowering our members in all aspects of the industry, including digital, which is why this masterclass was so important for us. It’s been fantastic to continue providing education like this to our members in lockdown, with online sessions providing an accessible, quick way to top up in-person learning.”
