Ashley recently invited the Project X team to his in-salon studio, where they created their very own collection of images in their first shoot. The Project X team is made up of hairdressers of all ages and levels, providing any hairdresser in the Fellowship with the opportunity to enjoy ongoing education and experiences like shoots and shows.
Ashley – who has built a name for himself with his inspiring colour work – showed the team some of his clever techniques for working with wigs, wefts and temporary colours to create striking and dynamic imagery on models, without having to create drastic colour changes.
“I was really excited about the day,” says team member Suzie Clelland from Marc Antoni. “I have done a few shoots before, but I love being in the environment and there’s always more to learn. On this occasion, it was so valuable to see how different hair looks through the camera than how it does in person, or in the mirror. Noticing those differences has been so helpful, and I’m definitely building my confidence and becoming more comfortable when it comes to shoots. I’m really starting to learn that simplicity is key.”
Reflecting on the day, Ashley says: “As a former F.A.M.E. Team member myself, I know how important these opportunities are and want to thank the Fellowship for letting me pass on what I’ve learnt to the next generation of young hairdressing talent.”
