Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks, is the latest hairdressing icon to lend her expertise to the 2020 F.A.M.E. Team, with an inspirational mentoring day at her salon in London.
Sally left the team equal part inspired and motivated after an exceptional day of mentoring, which covered not just her techniques and insight, but also her inspirations and concepts.
“In the morning we talked about how inspiration works and how Sally gets inspired,” says Jose Domene. “She helped us with finding our creative voice, or at least getting a better idea of where it comes from and what it means to each of us. She also gave us so much to think about, like; what do we want to be remembered for?”
In the afternoon it was time to play with hair and learn some of Sally’s innovative techniques for creating textures. “This wasn’t about worrying too much about creating any particular look,” says Jose. “But more on finding our own touch and feeling, and using the mirror to find something you haven't seen before. I was amazed to be honest.”
Casey Coleman was similarly inspired, adding: “Aside from having an incredibly inspiring day, Sally also spoke to us about what it is we actually want. Her advice is second to none – she has a way of just being human with no smoke and mirrors. This day might just have changed my career path; something I wouldn’t have thought about without being on the F.A.M.E. Team.”
