Niamh Morris from Jason Liddiard salon in Kent was recently named as the recipient of the 2019 Sassoon Scholarship. As her prize, she was able to choose up to four separate, week-long courses so that they prize could be tailored entirely to her own career goals.
For her first session, she completed Sassoon’s acclaimed ABC Complete course; the essentials of cutting and colouring, taught the Sassoon way. During the course, she worked hands-on with live models each day to perfect her skills, as well as enjoying in-depth tutorials covering shape, lines, graduation and layers.
“The most important thing I learned from the ABC Complete course is the way that line, graduation and layering create a cut,” says Niamh. “I now know how to use each technique differently to give a unique result.”
“Being in the famous London Academy was also an amazing experience,” she continues. “Being surrounded by other individuals and having the chance to learn such imperative skills and techniques has really helped expand my understanding.”
Following her first session, Niamh is excited to take back what she has learnt to the salon. “It’s important for me to bring back the key skills of cutting and colouring to the salon,” she says. “It will allow me to give my clients more refined, detailed looks due to a higher level of education being put to use. I also want to pass on some of the key skills I learned to my team, helping them include these techniques in their everyday cutting and colouring.”
