F.A.M.E. TEAM SPEND THE DAY WITH ERROL DOULGAS MBE AHEAD OF THEIR PHOTOSHOOT

The team spent the day with Errol Douglas MBE at his salon in London, in preparation of the photoshoot in June sponsored by Avlon.

Stacey Wright comments:Breaking down the fundamental elements of Afro/ textured hairdressing. We started the day with a demo from Errol showing us a cut and finish, along with a twist out to give us an example of styling. A hands-on look and learn that left all is us eager to get to work on our own models for the afternoon! We each had a model, who after consulting with them, we all had a different direction to head in, which was great as we got to learn several more techniques on the day when observing each other’s models."

We finished the day with a positive meeting with Sally, Errol and Jack to discuss what we have coming up! We all left feeling super charged, and ready for the next few months.  A truly unforgettable and inspirational day that taught me things that I will carry for the rest of my career. Thank you to the Fellowship, Sally Errol and Jack the rest of the team for arranging this magnificent day for us.”

Stephanie Gallagher comments:This workshop I had been looking forward to since joining the F.A.M.E. team. Working with Errol, whom I have admired for years, he took his time to share his knowledge and craft with us, was very exciting, as we have a shoot coming up I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have planned. Afro/textured hair is fundamental as hairdressers to understand.  For me it was one of the most valuable days I've had so far, as I feel more confident in myself to be able to say that I can cut and style ALL hair types.”

Edd Moss added: "On our day with Errol we learnt key skills, career advice, a textured hair cut and styling demo model in the morning. In the afternoon we brought in our own models and I learnt cutting freehand on 4c hair for a light trim and create shape. I then learnt how to blowdry the hair out using a pick followed by ironing the hair into a 1950’s style set. Also pinning it into place to create the finished look. Was a fun day full of learning with Errol and now looking forward to the shoot."

James Alfie added: "Wow,I don’t think words can describe how amazing it was to get to work with a living legend in the industry like Errol Douglas, MBE! We started the day with a conversation about our career goals and what being on the F.A.M.E. team can do for us in achieving them. Errol then did an amazing demo for us showing us how to approach cutting Afro hair and the methods behind it, from the products to the cutting method, it was a great eye opener and insight, and really helped build my confidence in approaching textured hair. For the afternoon we did a workshop on models which was great to get hands on and put to test the knowledge Errol had given us.  This was followed by a meeting with our Project Leader Sally and Errol, for our upcoming collection shoot - watch this space as we are going to be creating something AMAZING!"
