HAIRDOTCOM SCHOLARSHIP ROUND-UP

The Hairdotcom Scholarship, sponsored by KEVIN.MURPHY, is a first of its kind focused around creativity and spanning the whole cross sector of the hair industry, in the forever expanding industry in which we reside.  The opportunity to work within so many different areas has become readily available but extremely competitive

The Hairdotcom Art Team is made up of driven, renowned and respected hair creatives working in all sectors of the hair world, offering a second to none opportunity to provide a Scholarship in creative excellence never seen before in our industry.

Rebecca Johnston, a freelance hairdresser from Manchester, was awarded the HAIRDOTCOM Scholarship for 2025. Reflecting on her win, Rebecca said: “I’m so excited to be able to spend days with some of the industry’s best and can’t wait to see how my career will excel with the HAIRDOTCOM team." 

For Rebecca’s first day on the Hairdotcom Scholarship, she spent the day with Kevin Murphy Key Educator, Orsi Luca, who took her through the brand’s ‘Texture. Shape. Finish’ course. This was a great insight into Kevin Murphy products and how they work with textured hair. Orsi showed Rebecca the Kevin Murphy way of cutting curly hair and how each product helps to enhance curls. Rebecca said: “I can't wait to use these techniques in the salon!”

Up next, Rebecca spent the day with Past Fellowship President, Ashleigh Hodges, styling for a recording day for Britain’s Got Talent. For this, Rebecca got to assist in doing the hair for three acts. When reflecting on her day, Rebecca said it was great to see how a TV show runs behind the scenes. She added “the preparation it takes before the live shows and how many takes filming for the green screen requires. It was also fun seeing the make-up and wardrobe team work and watching all the looks come together!”
