Project Colour

Living colour

There’s no better way of bringing colour to life than with a dynamic shoot, which is precisely what the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Colour Project did this April.

The team, including mentor Chris Williams from Rush, shot at the Smashbox Studio in Mayfair with photographer Chris Bulezuik. They were joined on the day by former British Hairdresser of the Year, Darren Ambrose of D&J Ambrose and salon colour director, Clayde Baumann.

Colour was, naturally, the focus of the shoot with bold flashes of yellow, platinum and green and sportswear-inspired styling with bound ponytails, blunt fringes and sleek crops.

“It was incredible to get to work alongside one of my hair icons Darren Ambrose,” says Natalie Newton from Sarai Hair and Beauty. “He is so creative and has a great eye for detail, but he is also extremely patient. I learnt so much from talking to him, and lots of valuable skills for how to get the most out of a photoshoot.”

Krysia Eddery of Perfectly Posh Hair agrees, adding: “With the guidance of Chris, Darren and Clayde, we produced two shots each. But beyond that, we learnt no-end of techniques to use on set, which will stay with me forever and which I can go back and teach my team. That is invaluable.”
