MEN'S HAIR WORKSHOP TAKES BARBERING SKILLS TO ANOTHER LEVEL
The Men’s Hair Workshop was the latest educational session from the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, with a selection of in-demand barbers sharing their techniques, tips and tricks.
Held at the Wella Studio in London, the hands-on workshop was hosted by Wahl Global Artistic Director Simon Shaw and saw students working on mannequin heads while Simon and the mentors talked them through the latest trends.
He was joined by former Wahl Barber of the Year Michael Damiano and current Barber of the Year Rhys Whitehouse, who acted as mentors to the six students. Simon is also the leader of the PROJECT: Men team for 2022 and talked about the importance of precision and discipline when it comes to working with mens hair.
Mentor Rhys said: “It was a real intimate collaboration of education between Wahl, the Fellowship and Wella. It was amazing for me to share a platform with Michael Damiano and Simon Shaw and represent so many looks. The most important thing we talked about was choosing weight lines and baselines to maintain consistency throughout a fade – this can be interpreted through all types of fades and tapers and fade methods and I hope the students have been able to walk away with some useful tips that will make their gents services easier and more efficient.”
