PROJECT COLOUR SPEND THE DAY WITH TREVOR SORBIE’S CREATIVE DIRECTOR GIUSEPPE STELITANO

The team spent the day at the Trevor Sorbie Academy in Covent Garden with Trevor Sorbie's Creative Director Giuseppe Stelitano.

A few years ago Giuseppe Stelitano was a barista in the Trevor Sorbie salon in Covent Garden, having moved from Italy to follow his dreams. Pure passion for hair drove him to switch trades, complete an intense training programme and emerge as a game-changing colourist for the legendary London salon where he is now their Creative Director.

Giuseppe was the first person in the history of the company to be offered a position within the main Artistic Team after presenting his first collection and has gone on to wow thousands on stage and in print.

Giuseppe Stelitano comments: “For this session the team had a taste of what is the Trevor Sorbie Scholarship. We started talking about creativity and showed them some of my favourite looks that I’ve created over the years at Trevor Sorbie.  Where to get inspiration and how my mind works in term of mood-board and creative process. Ben, one of our creative team ambassadors joined the session, as I wanted to give the opportunity to showcase his amazing work and talent. He covered a section called “Abstract Painting” and demo to the team his Marble technique.  In the afternoon we put them in pairs to work and they had fun replicating his techniques giving their own spin to it.”

This is the second year for me mentoring Project Colour and I always have the best time. I don’t think there is anything better than to share passion and knowledge to the new generation and help them to find their own creative voice. Looking forward to see their final project as group.”

Amelia Krasinski comments: “Spending the day with Giuseppe and Ben was so inspiring. Loved trying something different and something I wouldn’t normally do.  It got us all into the creative flow of thinking outside the box. I’ve come away from yesterday looking at hair in a completely different way and that you can literally create anything! there is no right or wrong it’s what you make it!”

Claire Keith comments: “Our day with Giuseppe and Ben was so much fun and really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I have quite a structured approach to colour and to be put in an environment where you have to work in the total opposite way was incredible and has really made my brain go into creative overdrive!”
