PROJECT X WITH SYD HAYES SESSION STYLING DAY

Syd ranks among fashion’s most exciting new talents, creating looks inspired by London’s youth driven culture.  He collaborates regularly with a range of photographers, from exciting new wave artists such as Harley Weir and Tyrone Lebon, to some of the most established and respected in the industry.  He currently is acting as Brand Ambassador to BaByliss PRO.

The team spent the day with Syd at Hare & Bone, Fitzrovia where they spent the morning Q&A with Syd and presentation.  Followed by a hands-on session and photoshoot.  The day was sponsored by BaBylis Pro.

It was an action-packed day. Starting at 10:00 am with a Q&A Syd Hayes facilitated by Sam Burnett.  Syd shared his career story, showed the team some of his campaign and editorial highlights, whilst sharing invaluable insights and advice in the session world.

Then things really ramped up as Syd hosted the "Syd Hayes Pony Club", where he shared a presentation on the power of the ponytail.  They then split the team into four groups, following a demonstration from Syd on how to execute the perfect Ponytail, the four teams worked together on live models to create ponytail looks of their own.  Syd was not messing about and really put the team through their paces, highlighting the importance of attention to detail and how important it is to follow a brief.  As if this wasn't enough, they finished the day off with a photoshoot where Syd guided and coached the team to create some fashion ready images.

Chris Donohue comments: "I had a fantastic day with Syd and his team. It was a jam packed day which I took alot away.  It was very inspiring to hear how his career path has gone and his intro into the session wolrd and where he is now.  Syd took us through his kit bag and must haves which was amazing and then gave us a masterclass in the ponytail before assigning different styles to do ourselves.  I teamed up with Cam and Lee, and we got to create a wet look pony with extended length.  Here is when we got to see how forensice and detailed Syd's work is.  Truly an inspiring day with a huge amount of information taken from it."

Tanahya Nash: “Having a day with Syd Hayes and Paula McCash was incredible.They were so nice. We learnt 4 different styles of ponytail, from Instagram to catwalk and print.  Syd also talked us through his kit and how he organises it which was incredibly helpful. By far one of my favourite days!"
