RICK ROBERTS MULTI-AWARD WINNING STYLIST IS THE MENTOR FOR PROJECT X TEAM DAY

The team travelled to GHD Academy for their team day with the amazing Rick Roberts.  Rick is a curl & texture expert and 2019, 2020 & 2021 British Afro Hairdresser of the Year and Hall of Fame.

Rick taught the team texture & curl in the morning.  In the afternoon, they worked on Bantu Knots, Twisting, Rod setting.  But importantly, the history of curly hair, history of Afro Caribbean hair and understanding and respecting the curl.

Tanahya Nash comments: “Our Project: X day with Rick Roberts at GHD Academy was fantastic. Rick taught us a universal texture cut, braids, twists, Bantu knots and setting techniques. I can’t wait to take what we’ve learned especially the styling techniques and put them into practice. Maybe even for our project shoot!”

Justine Weir comments: “I had the best day with Rick as always he delivers, his knowledge and understanding of curls and texture is amazing!!! The vibes were amazing and everyone was buzzing after it!!!”

Chris Donohue added: “I had a wonderful day with Rick. Textured hair is a hole in my knowledge, so it was amazing to be taught the fundamentals and more.  Rick has a really relaxed way of teaching, and it was a very open conversation. Leaving I feel more confident and knowledgeable in textured hair and I cannot wait to grow that part of my self.”
