Welcome to PROJECT WALES!
Project Wales: Elevating Welsh Hair Creativity
Project Wales is a unique programme designed to showcase and develop Wales's top hairdressing talent across all areas of creativity—cutting, colouring, styling, and more. With a minimum of 8 educations days + a photoshoot (all education days will be based in Wales), as well as appearing on stage time at HairCon, Manchester & the Projects Grand Finale.
It’s a platform for hair professionals to come together, learn from each other, and explore new creative approaches, all while staying true to the distinctive style and innovation that 'Welsh Hair Creativity' is known for.
What Project Wales offers:
Project Wales is about fostering creativity and collaboration, giving hair professionals the tools and inspiration to continue growing and pushing boundaries in their craft.
For years, Welsh artists spend £1000’s on travel to London for opportunities, events, education and shows, so to lead the first ever industry project solely for Welsh members is honestly an absolute dream and proof of the progression the Fellowship are making.
Offering Welsh Fellowship members the chance to gain opportunities for education with some of Wales’ iconic industry figures, project members will have access to a year’s worth of education in cutting, colour, styling, Avant Garde, social media, stage presenting and textured hair, as well as being given the chance to work on stage and take part in a creative photoshoot.
As hairstylists, we don’t go to university, so projects like this really do help elevate and celebrate hairstylists who often feel forgotten about or don’t know how to get access to incredible industry opportunities. Buckle up because this is going to be one hell of a ride!
Casey Coleman Project Wales Leader
As the founder of Wales’ first gender neutral salon, CHAIR salons, I currently lead a team of freelance hairdressers, providing them with incredible opportunities as well as a sensory friendly environment to work in, supporting our ever changing industry and leading the freelance community within Wales.
In addition to being a UK and global guest artist for GOLDWELL, I also run a separate freelance business where I have been scouted by tv & film designers to create looks for production companies like Netflix, Disney, Amazon, BBC and ITV. I also run independent education, and create content for my online audience of over 415k people.
I’ve gratefully accepted 19 awards over the past 10 years, from winning an Itlist award for being a visionary, or winning Image of the Year at the Fellowship luncheon, to being inducted into the hall of fame at the British hairdressing business awards and Colour genius awards, my passion for creativity and inclusivity has led me to become one of Wales leading hairdressers.
Being a F.A.M.E. team alumni, I know the importance of the Fellowship, so to head up Project Wales is a true testament to success being available to anyone, regardless of where they’re from. I’m really excited to help other Welsh artists show exactly how much talent there is in Wales, and can’t wait to meet the Project Wales mentees. Prepare yourselves for a year full of artistry, creativity, and most importantly, fun!
I am a freelance hairdresser and salon owner based in Anglesey, North Wales, with a passion for exploring various aspects of the hairdressing industry. Alongside running my own salon, I am proud to be a Discovery Educator for Davines, a sustainable brand that I absolutely love. Their support has not only expanded my knowledge but has also reignited my passion for teaching and educating others in the field. This complements my experience as a City & Guilds assessor, where I dedicate myself to mentoring and guiding aspiring hairdressers.
I have recently graduated in salon management and advanced hairdressing techniques, followed by a qualification in trichology, focusing on hair loss and scalp conditions. I am deeply passionate about the science behind hair and love helping others feel good about themselves.
Over my years in the industry, I have been fortunate to work on prestigious fashion weeks, as well as on various projects for television, photo shoots, and music videos. These experiences have allowed me to travel extensively, exploring new places and cultures while sharing my love for the industry. I thrive creatively, especially in the realm of color work, which brings me immense joy.
I believe that knowledge is power, and I am excited to share my expertise while inspiring fellow hairdressers to reach their full potential through this Fellowship project.
