THE FELLOWSHIP PRESENTS HAIR & VISION 'THE CUT' SPONSORED BY WELLA PROFESSIONALS

The Fellowship presents Hair & Vision returned to London for another fantastic event, The Cut, sponsored by Wella Professionals.

Held within the highly acclaimed Wella World Studio situated on The Strand, London, the event brought together stylists and colourists alike, to discuss the importance of the cut in the salon today, highlighting the history, the trends and the techniques involved in the progression within this sector of the industry and how salon owners can use to make sure their salon retains and builds their cut clients, and that their teams are forever evolving in their careers.

To begin the evening Fellowship for British Hairdressing President Robert Eaton welcomed the audience and gave an insight into what to expect from the evening. He then introduced Wella World Studio Leader Jacen Ward, who welcomed guests to the brands fabulous academy and shared a little information surrounding the history and evolution of the brand. The duo then introduced our artists and brought the team to the floor for the creative session.

Beginning the evening was Wella Top Artistand Creative Director of Cobella Salon Jordanna Cobella, who demonstrated a creative curly look on her model, and took the audience through cutting curly hair – a very interesting and much sought after technique. Jordanna shared her top tips and advice on cutting curly hair and then took the audience through the styling process, sharing her top products on achieving the perfect creative curly look. Working alongside Jordanna was HOB Salons Head of Education Jake Unger. Jake focussed on a creative cut, explaining the link between the cut and the colour and why the pairing of both is vitally important. Working with defined lines, Jake worked with his model’s face shape, to create a strong statement look. Next was Art Director of Stil. Salon Angelo Vallillo, who shared with the audience a gorgeous look with texture throughout. Angelo showcased the cutting techniques he used to achieve the overall look, explaining that it’s all about the bespoke technique for every client, not two cuts is ever the same. Alongside Angelo was Assistant Creative Director of Sassoon Kitty Latham, who brought her colourful cut vision to life! Working with a creative, choppy fringe and disconnected sections, Kitty showcased a look which can be fully transitioned into salon friendly styles. The creative team were given a resounding applause from the audience.

Host for the evening Robert Eaton then brought to the stage two of the 2023 Project Sassoon Team members, Leanne Chester and Lydie Hollylee who shared with the audience their journeys so far on the Project, how this has impacted their career and why they would urge anyone to join in this fantastic opportunity. The team members then presented two models created using skills learned during their time on Project Sassoon.

Last but certainly not least, President Robert Eaton brought to the stage HOB Salons Creative Director Akin Konizi, who received an exceptional welcome from the audience. Akin presented to the audience his creative model, showcasing a variety of techniques and discussing the progression of the cut over the years. Akin also shared his journey within hairdressing, which has seen him win numerous awards, the creation of an array of exceptional photographic collections and his love of education at all levels of his career. Sharing his techniques with the audience, Akin explained his reasoning behind the cutting methods used, and how the classics have stayed with him since the early part of his career.

Bringing the evening to a close, Robert Eaton and Jacen Ward thanked everyone for their attendance and the artists for their incredibly insightful presentations.
