Colour Project Shoot with Robert Eaton
Following an inspiring mentoring day in February, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Colour Project team were reunited with award-winning colourist, Robert Eaton, for their first shoot.
Robert had worked closely with the team since his first session to help them develop their shoot, assisting with casting, techniques and concept. By the time they came together on set in March, the entire team was prepped, ready and excited to shoot their first collection.
Joined by Colour Project Leader, Paul Dennison, Robert and the team spent their day shooting at The Worx studio in Fulham, West London.
Working as a team, the Colour Project prepped four models, bringing to life their concepts on camera.
“I hadn't really done a shoot like this before,” says Poppy Devine-Smith of Zoology. “I've assisted in the past, but I was young and less engaged. This was a really great day for me and it was so inspiring to be closely involved with the concept and models. It was a fab opportunity to be hands on and really involved in the action.”
“This is one of the things I've been most looking forward to,” she continues. “Seeing our models in front of the camera was such a thrill, and it was lovely to see everything we had envisioned come together and work so well. It was also amazing to see Robert’s take on which images worked best and why.”
The day was a learning experience for the whole team, and they will now enjoy getting to see their images edited, shared with the press and – hopefully! – published.
“The number one thing I learnt on the day were techniques to use on camera, and not on stage,” concludes Poppy. “Things that work in front of the lens aren’t always visible to the naked eye, and that’s something I’ll be using from now on throughout my career. The whole day was great learning curve and incredibly useful.”
