F.A.M.E. Team

On track for F.A.M.E.

The F.A.M.E. Team is the jewel in the crown of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s numerous mentoring programs, having launched the careers of such hairdressing luminaries as Adam Reed, Zoe Irwin, Errol Douglas, Antoinette Beenders and Chris Appleton.

Providing its team members with the opportunity for peerless education, mentoring and opportunities, it’s the ultimate finishing school for emerging hairdressing talent, setting them on a stellar path to success.

This year’s team, led by session stylist and hairdressing icon, Nick Irwin, recently enjoyed their first session – on Nick’s home turf of Brixton, South London.

The foursome met up at Pop Brixton; a diverse local independent space with bars, restaurants, shops and inspiration galore. Over the course of the day, they found out more about their year ahead, as well as hearing more about their mentor, Nick, and getting to know one another.

“It was a really chilled and cool environment,” says Ashley Cockrell from Percy & Reed. “The location was really urban and detailed on so many levels. It was the perfect place to get to know Nick and the team personally, and explore the creative methods we’ll use to achieve all our goals throughout the year.”

After hearing more about their mentor and the year ahead, the team worked with D&A Films to create footage capturing the essence of the team and what excites them about hair.

Finally, Nick talked to the team about his career, his creative process and the work that excites him and keeps him inspired.

“Hearing how Nick works was the highlight of the day,” says Lora Griffin, from Simon Webster Hair. “I have always been familiar with his work, but hearing about his creative process and what makes him tick was really inspiring.”

“I learnt about how important the process and research is when creating new looks, collections and editorials,” she continues, “and I’m looking forward to putting this into practice and exploring new areas of the industry.”

“The day was so inspirational and motivating,” concludes Ashley. “I learnt so much about areas of the industry I always wanted to know more about. I was constantly tapping my foot in anticipation and excitement for most of the day! I can’t wait for the life-changing experiences that we’re going to undertake over the next 12 months.”
