RENOWNED AUTHOR & AFRO HAIR HISTORIAN SANDRA GITTENS JOINED THE PROJECT AFRO TEAM

The team spent the day at Keune Academy in London. Jacqui McIntosh set the team a challenge to present all they have learnt so far on the project.

Renowned Author and Afro hair historian Sandra Gittens joined the team in the afternoon to talk to you about the African-Caribbean hairdressing sector and her personal journey.

Chris Grimley comments: “Absolutely inspiring day meeting a legend of afro hair history in Sandra Gittens! What a fabulous lady and such an interesting story she told about the whole journey of afro hair in the UK! Really makes you realise how far we have come and yet how far we need to go.”

Louis Driver comments: “It was and insightful day. In the morning we were discussing photoshoot ideas with the talented Pashcan’el. In the afternoon we had a deep dive into the rich culture and history of British afro hair with Ms Sandra Gittens.”
