THE FELLOWSHIP PRESENTS HAIR & VISION 'WOMEN IN COLOUR' SPONSORED BY L'ORÉAL PROFESSIONAL

The Fellowship presents Hair & Vision took over London once again, with a night dedicated to 'Women in Colour', sponsored by L’Oréal Professional.

With the setting for the evening the breath-taking new L’Oréal Academy in White City, it was a night that wowed all attendees. Colour is an incredibly large part of the hairdressing industry and it was time to celebrate ‘Women in Colour’ and everything involved within this sector of the hairdressing industry.

Fellowship President Robert Eaton welcomed the guests to the exceptional new Academy and introduced his co-host for the evening, Nicola Chamberlain. Robert shared with the audience a brief insight to the Fellowship and their offerings, handing over to Nicola to introduce the brand and artists joining them on stage.

With the night all about colour, Nicola welcomed on stage some of the industries most loved and talented colourists – Carol Ritchie, Sian Couldridge, Sophie-Rose Goldsworthy and Verity Waite. All four ladies showcased their own colouring techniques and niches, explaining how trends have evolved and how the skill of colour remains vital within hairdressing education. Verity began the segment sharing with the audience her love of vivid colours and how she uses different placements techniques to create a statement look. Next up was Sian, who shared with the audience a more consumer focused look, using the air touch balayage technique. Sian explained this has been a great way of introducing clients to colour, as it can face frame and provide a much more subtle transformation. Following on was Sophie- Rose who shared a colour blocking look, showcasing the use contrast between light and darker shades. Last but not least Carol took the audience through her beautiful muted pastel colour vision, opting for muted pinks and lavenders and also discussing the colour placement and the importance of face framing a look.

Following the creative colour session, Rob and Nicola welcomed to the stage four of the most respected names within the colour industry; Carolyn Newman, Christel Barron-Hough, Jo O’Neill and Lisa Farrall. Each individual has worked with colour through a variety of different channels such as shoots, education, in salon and as part of future progress within the industry and shared their own experiences, thoughts on the evolution of colour and how colour has impacted their own careers and journey throughout hairdressing. As an educator, Carolyn shared her views on how education has developed and changed both pre and post covid. Christel explained how change within colour from trends and influences has an impact on clients and salons day to day. Lisa shared her experience with colouring textured hair and how this has become something so vital in every aspect of hairdressing with Jo discussing how her team adapts to change and implements this as a transferable skill both in and out of the salon.

With the in-depth discussion and Q&A session brought to a close, Robert welcomed to the stage 2 of the fellowship Project Colour Team, Allie Harknett and Sean Soerensen who shared with the audience their two presentation models, and the skill used to create each look. The duo also spoke at length regarding their time on Project Colour and how the last 12months have positively impacted their careers both in and out of the salon, with both describing the experience as ‘lifechanging.’

Bringing the evening to a close, both Robert Eaton and Nicole Chamberlain welcomed the artists, their models and the panel back to the stage and thanked everyone for their attendance and the artists for their incredibly insightful presentations.
